Dal Fara

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rice flour

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tsp oil

  • Salt to taste

For stuffing (optional):

  • ½ cup chana dal (soaked and ground)

  • 1 green chili, chopped

  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • Salt to taste

For tempering:

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • ½ tsp mustard seeds

  • ½ tsp cumin seeds

  • A pinch of turmeric

  • Curry leaves (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Boil water with salt and oil. Add rice flour and mix well to form a soft dough. Let it cool slightly and knead.

  2. Mix stuffing ingredients in a bowl.

  3. Take a small portion of dough, flatten it, add stuffing, and fold into dumpling shapes.

  4. Steam the dumplings for 10–12 minutes until cooked.

  5. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, cumin, turmeric, and curry leaves. Add steamed fara and sauté lightly until golden.

  6. Serve hot with green chutney.
